Every single one of our films starts with—and is guided by—the imagination of our students. Throughout the year, our drama coaches help develop these ideas into fully-fledged films and to hone their acting skills, while our production team starts working on the logistics of bringing these visions to life.
We shoot all our films in HD using both film school graduates and seasoned professional filmmakers in our production and post-production team. All of our work is producted to broadcast-quality standards.
Come behind the scenes on our Easter 2019 film shoot with our amazing students, and our talented production and post-production team, and discover how we make our films. Each of our Easter film shoots take place over two days over the Easter half-term where our students learn how a professional film production is run.
We also show them how a film is planned and put together while introducing them to the process in a fun and informative way, the aim being to give them a better understanding of filmmaking. For those students interested in pursuing a career in the industry, these are valuable lessons, but even if our students ultimately decide otherwise, we hope that they will gain a deeper appreciation of the art and make watching film and television more pleasurable for them.
Once the shoot is over, the material is handed over to our post-production department where they will typically review over 25 hours of footage—and thousands of gigabytes of data—in order to bring our students' vision to life. Each film goes through an exacting process: anything from six to ten or more revisions are gone through in the edit to achieve the final cut.
Once final cut has been approved, each film is then sound-mixed, colour-graded, titled and mastered: the whole process takes about 18 weeks from start to finish.
